Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common disease in childhood. The behavioral symptoms of the patients are inability to concentrate, excessive activity, and hyperactivity, which cause children to learn slowly and poor interpersonal relationships. The causes of ADHD are complex and unclear, and the current single-component drug presents sever side effects. Therefore, it is important to develop drugs with fewer side effects, higher safety, and good efficacy. Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry Technology and Development Center develops natural botanical extracts to treat ADHD, through screening the activity, uniformizing and optimizing the manufacturing process, and after the pharmacological and toxicological evaluations, the development of new botanicals is completed.
This study aims to take materials with dual use of the drug and the food, uses the none-single component and multi-targeting reacting features of botanicals to develop drugs with higher safety. At the same time, the development of the target was screened by detecting the difference in the expression of stimulating the neurotransmitters in the rat brain, and the different manufacturing processes were developed by the efficacy of the drugs to confirm the curative effect of the extracted material fractions. We completed the drug material verification controlling and established the using specifications; additionally, the lot preparation and activity confirmation of the manufacturing process were completed to confirm the consistency of the manufacturing processes.
